Ginger cat enquiring what you're looking at

For today’s blog, we’d like to highlight the work done by Ardmore Veterinary Practice. We have worked closely with Ardmore for the past thirteen years and we’re happy to recommend them to anyone who wants to register their cat with a friendly and caring vet. We’ve always found the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful, willing to take time to explain all the options and let us have time to decide which is the best.

Richard Davy is the director of Ardmore. Here’s what he has to say about his veterinary practices;

“Here at Ardmore Vets we have two branches; one in Sudbury and a smaller branch in Great Yeldham. The Sudbury branch has been on the same site for over 60 years (with the addition of a new theatre and kennel wing in 2012) and the Yeldham branch opened in 2004. Some of our vets, nurses and support staff have been here for over 20 years, so we have a good balance of experience as well as newer team members.

The Sudbury branch is open Monday to Saturday and the Great Yeldham branch Monday to Friday. Both branches have air-conditioned waiting rooms, with appointment only clinics to reduce any unnecessary waiting for you and your cat. We are mindful of the potential stresses for cats waiting alongside other clients’ dogs and have a ‘cat park’ and a ‘quiet room’ at Sudbury and are also able to separate cats at Great Yeldham using our nurses room or kennels.

Our Sudbury branch has separate in-patient and day surgery patient wards for the dogs and the cats. At our Yeldham branch we are able to perform routine neutering operations for cats as well as routine blood tests and blood pressure monitoring for common feline diseases such as kidney, thyroid disease and diabetes. The Sudbury branch offers the facilities for more complex operations and further diagnostics such as X-rays, ultrasound or on-site blood tests. We also perform all feline dental treatment at Sudbury where we have our dental x-ray facilities to identify and correctly treat any tooth resorption which is common in cats.

And we’re lucky that after a day at work meeting new and old pets we go home to our own feline clans.”

Three Ardmore cats getting comfortable

If we have any concerns for the health of a cat while they are staying with us, Ardmore is our first choice for veterinary treatment. It’s been a thirteen-year long partnership that is still working well. We’re pleased to know that Ardmore would recommend Paws For Thought Cattery to anyone wanting a safe place to place their cat within easy reach of Sible Hedingham, Braintree and Sudbury.

Richard has warned us of some important changes to veterinary prescribing, which we’ll cover in more detail later this week. In the meantime – your cat may not like the vet, but Ardmore will do their very best to change their mind!
